The cost is $820-$920 rent, plus all utilities! Cost of water/trash $60-$70, electric summer $200+ gas $150 winter. And the rent goes up 14% each year after the first. Not many last past two years! The place is old and worn. Dont be taken by the model! That is the Only apartment that looks like that! I cried when I saw the apartment I was stuck with! They will kick you out even if you had a heart attack and are in the hospital! This happened to my friend! Just Dont Go There!

Brookmont is a DUMP! I was conned into giving the manager over 3 grand (all the money I had!) to to stop a eviction. I fell behind when the cost of the utilities and rent went above the income. I was not starving to line their pockets and was very ill and in the hospital. The manager lied to me when she stated that the money was enough to stop the eviction. She never tried to work with me. There is a higher then normal eviction rate, 10% late charges turned over to lawyer in as little as 10 days! The rent went up 14% or $120 after the first year and another $60-$70 a month for water and trash. Yet there is no meter and no washer and drying in the unit. There are bugs, mice, birds in the walls mold dust and old faulty hearter that leaked CO and AC that didnt cool past 84 and cost well over $200 a month in spring-summer. I was FTA and the court issued a judgment. I didnt receive the court notice till after the fact. I was trying to repay but was locked-out via private officer that was rude and yelling to GET OUT!! I was on bed rest and kicked out in my PJ's with no place to go and little money! I called police and this private officer grabbed the phone and stated police dont have to come out. The police arrived and I was not allowed to talk to them, nor them to me! He was posing as a city sheriff officer! After 3 months I received a bill with over $2500 for rent and utilities that was after the lock out. I lost $800+ deposit for nosense damage costs. The grand total is missing the $3500 I paid! This apartment was billed at $724 but after I gave my deposit and money for background checks credit report the amount jumped to $824. That is Bate and Switch! The water/trash was not in the lease..and the bill went up when they filled the pool that cost $150 the season! The dust was so bad in the apartment that my computer caught fire! The wires were bad and bare and arked! I repaired the apartment holes in the walls that were left. I painted over the rust and old paint on the cabinets. Also a neighbor was allowed to have a Pit Bull that bit me and he was not removed! Now my live is RUINED! I may never recover from this mess! And if you think it was just me?? Wrong there are atleast 5 evictions a month that I noticed, and a high turnover rate of %70-%80. They cant even hire legal workers from their lawn/cleaning service! They need to be sued for a change not the lawyer owner sueing during a bailout! And a murder in a builing at the complex, due to the type of people they are renting to. As long as you pay the thousand in rent then you can do what ever you want! The complex is no more then a housing project! I hope someone sends this letter to a lawyer and or the City Of Phila! Thanks

Five Year Nightmare

We lived in Lafayette Plaza for close to 5 years. We forgot to drop a rent check off once and on the 5th day they threatened us with eviction. One winter we lost power for about a week, leaving the building uninhabitable during that time. The water has been shut off on numerous occasions for "repairs" that left us with little to no water pressure that the maintenance staff seemed incompetent to fixed (never was). We ended up having to get a low water pressure shower head to take a decent shower and even that was little help. When the fire alarm was set off in the building, we were told we could reenter and had to listen to the bell for over an hour before they turned it off at 10:15 pm. With the exception of Christine, the women at the leasing office are nothing but rude and condescending. We especially refused to deal with **** who always acted like we were hassling her. One occasion we called to inquire about why our electric bill was so high during the summer and *****'s response was "Well, you ARE on the 4th floor and heat rises." Later we found out from a maintenance person that the windows and patio door is poorly insulated, which is why they pay for our gas, because no one would be able to afford to live here during the winter.

This place is a dump!!!

Where do I begin? There are drug deals going on in the parking lot. Lots of ******* live here and are a nuisance-talking on their phones and lurking around the doorway. The management here blows. They complain to you about the most petty things, meanwhile this place is in shambles. There is something that breaks literally once a week, the shower sucks and goes from 1,000 degrees to 10 degrees in a split second. There are MANY stink bugs and centipedes in the apt when it's warm out. It's constantly noisy outside the parking lot (if you can find a spot) and littered with f-tards. It's no shock that there are MANY unoccupied apartments because who the hell would want to live here when you uncover the truth about this abomination of an apartment complex. If you like living in a dump then live here, but I say avoid it all costs. My girlfriend and I cannot wait until May '09 when our lease is up because we are so out of here!

WORST EXPERIENCE

My boyfriend and I are juniors in college looking to move into an apartment together. We searched online and in the papers. We thought that Wilkeswood looked like a very nice safe place to live, so we went there to look at an apartment. The lady in the front, Nicole, gave us FALSE information. She told us that no matter what happens, we get the $200.00 holding deposit back. We handed in our applications which are supposed to take a few days, needless to say we got our answers in ten minutes. Nicole had called ten minutes after we left and told us that my boyfriend’s background was denied. My boyfriend has absolutely NO RECORD, he was never arrested or anything like that. So then after this faulty background check, we go back to Nicole to get our money and she tells us that she put the apartment under MY NAME AND ONLY MY NAME and that we cannot get our $200.00 back. It clearly says in the paper that you must sign before processing the application that if one person is denied you will get refunded the $200.00 deposit. Now after a month of waiting and waiting and waiting to hear back from Nicole, we must find another place to live since she promised that she would fix everything and we had nothing to worry about. The apartments at Wilkeswood are beautiful but their staff, SUCKS (for lack of a better word). There are so many nice apartments out there for rent for a lot cheaper, save yourself the hassle of dealing with people that lie and cheat college students. I do not recommend this complex to anyone.

Apartment rentals are at an all time high. With the high costs of purchasing a new home many people live in an apartment temporarily while they save for a new home. Some apartment listing guides charge for information, be we've compiled a hefty list of apartments in every city and state. Renting an apartment is as easy as finding several in your area, visiting each to decide if the right facilities are available and contacting each one to find out monthly rental information.
